I have always had a steadfast connection to the outdoors. Much of my work is landscape-inspired, reacting to the sensations I perceive in trees, dunes, and other natural forms, with an affinity for line and color.
Working in oils or gouache, I explore the sensations of the natural elements in the landscape with spirited freshness and enjoy the immediacy of plein air painting.
The new works represented here, are done from observation en plein air. There is not a day that is similar here on the Outer Cape. It is both liberating and challenging to be among the elements, feeling my way through the grandiose amount of visual information that surrounds and enlightens my response to it.
My goal is to create atmosphere and energy with paint.
