“Ancestors”
September 10-24, Opening Reception Saturday, September 13th 5-7PM
Second Saturday Artist Talk September 20th 4PM
I have always had a steadfast connection to the outdoors. There is nothing more enjoyable to me than stepping into a wooded forest. These new works pay direct homage to the tree, our ancestors from over 385 million years ago.
As one of our globe's most valuable assets, trees not only provide shelter, and shade, they are beautifully self-sufficient quietly filling the earth’s atmosphere with air for us to safely breathe. They are also beautiful in form. I am fascinated by textures of the wood, but most particularly the structure of roots, leaf + limbs, the latter explosively calligraphic where line and negative shape create compositions.
Protect our ancient friends and plant trees for future generations.
